Dormitory

The University of Warsaw offers accommodation in one of six Dormitories – they are located in different parts of Warsaw – 3 in Ochota, one each in Śródmieście, Mokotów and Praga Południe.

  • Each student of the University of Warsaw, doctoral student of the University of Warsaw;
  • in the second place, in special cases, people who do not study at the University of Warsaw – however, this option is currently not available.

Due to the specific requirements resulting from the state of health, it is possible to obtain a place in the student dormitory adapted to the needs of people with disabilities. It is also possible to apply for a place from the pool of The Office for Persons with Disabilities (BON)

The exact dates of applying for places in the Student Dormitory, allocating places, accommodation may vary from year to year, more or less, they are determined and announced by the Rector after consulting the Students’ Council of the University of Warsaw and the PhD Students’ Union. However, it is worth remembering:

  • if you are already a PhD student at the University of Warsaw and plan to apply for a place in DS for the next academic year – about following information and dates during the holidays, so as not to miss the application deadline for current PhD students;
  • if you are just starting your studies at the University of Warsaw and plan to apply for a place at the DS, you must submit your application for a given academic year 14 days before the planned course. The dates of individual rounds for a given academic year are published in the news (deadlines 2022/23).

We submit the application via USOSweb. After logging in at www.usosweb.uw.edu.pl to your individual account, go to the COMMON SECTION tab, and then APPLICATIONS. We fill out an application for a dormitory in the academic year 2022/2023.

Foreign doctoral students do not fill out the income declaration!

The Student Welfare and Support Office verifies the application and, if necessary, asks for a correction. Student Welfare and Support Office examines the applications in due time, using the USOSweb algorithm.

The algorithm for assigning places works in two stages. First, the conditions are verified, i.e. income and distance from the place of permanent residence. If these conditions are met (the number of points is sufficient to be quite high in the ranking), the applicant is verified in the second stage. In the second stage, certain criteria are checked (see the table below) – the more points awarded for these criteria, the greater the chances of being allocated a seat in accordance with your preferences.

Conditions taken into account in the process of applying for a place in the dormitory:

  • income per person in the family, calculated in accordance with the rules set out in Annex 1 to the Regulations – for this criterion you can get 0-75 points. – proportional to the income – for a monthly income of PLN 0 per person in a family, you get 75 points, and for PLN 1,500 – 0 points;
  • distance from the place of residence to the University of Warsaw (Krakowskie Przedmieście 26/28 street, 00-927 Warsaw), taking into account the actual communication routes – for this criterion you can get 0-25 points – proportional to the distance – for 250 km and more you get 25 points, for 0 km 0 points.

In addition, the Rector, after consulting the Students’ Council of the University of Warsaw and the PhD Students’ Union, may set the income threshold, i.e. the value of the monthly income per person in the family, above which it will not be possible to receive a place in the student dormitory, and the minimum distance, i.e. the value below which the applicant will not be able to. receiving accommodation in a student dormitory.
