Everything You Need to Know About Dormitory Room Changes at the UW

Category: 2025/2026, Dormitory

As the accommodation situation in our student halls of residence is beginning to stabilise, it will be possible to change the assigned dormitory as vacant places become available. By doing so, we aim to give currently accommodated residents the possibility to adjust their place of residence to their individual needs — for example, in terms of location, roommates, or living conditions.

The forms will be available for completion starting from 5 November at 18:00. (Polish time). Applications submitted by email will not be accepted!

To do so, the appropriate form must be completed — a separate one for each of the seven dormitories.

📌 Forms are only available to students who have already been alocated a place in on of the UW student halls of residence!
If you do not yet have a place but wish to live in a UW dormitory, please refer to the information provided in the previous post regarding the waiting list [Waiting List for Allocation of a Place in a UW Dormitory – Academic Year 2025/2026]

How does it work?

  • The possibility of the room change depends on the availability of vacant rooms.
  • when a vacant place is reported in a given dormitory, the first person on the list (based on the order of applications) will be offered the possibility of room change.
  • there are no additional criteria — the order of applications is the only determining factor.
  • the waiting time depends on the number of available rooms; therefore, we cannot specify when a place in a given dormitory will ultimately become available.
Please note! Places within the room change process are offered only in double rooms that are not adapted for persons with disabilities.

How to apply for the waiting list?

To register on the list, you must complete the form. The form collects all the necessary information for the allocation of places in the dormitories. When completing the form:

  1. Select your status at the University of Warsaw (student, doctoral student);
  2. Provide your full name to ensure proper identification;
  3. Provide your student ID number;
  4. Provide an email address within the @uw.edu.pl or @student.uw.edu.pl domain – this is the address to which you will receive information about your accommodation allocation;
  5. Indicate the dormitory where you currently live.

What happens after registering on the list?

We kindly ask for your patience – the waiting list is updated on an ongoing basis. As soon as a place becomes available, we will contact the next person on the list.

Upon acceptance of your application, you will be notified via the email address listed in the form. You will be informed about the date of your dormitory move-in.

Please remember! This is the only procedure applicable for changing an allocated place in a dormitory in the current academic year.   Requests submitted by email will not be considered.
