Everything you need to know about the social scholarship [SUMMER SEMESTER 2025/2026]

The beginning of the summer semester is an appropriate time to remember to submit an application for a social scholarship. This obligation applies both to students currently in receipt of the benefit (as the scholarship is awarded on a semester basis rather than for the full academic year) and to students intending to apply for this form of support.
[If you did not apply for a social scholarship in the winter semester of the 2025/2026 academic year]
- STEP 1: Complete the income declaration for the 2025/2026 academic year (base year: 2024) in USOSweb (tabs: COMMON SECTION –> Applications).
- STEP 2: Submit an application for a social scholarship for the summer semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. It is not necessary to wait for the income declaration to be verified in order to submit an application.
[If you did not apply for a social scholarship in the winter semester but were not awarded it]
- STEP 1: Submit only the application for a social scholarship for the summer semester of the 2025/2026 academic year.
When completing the application for a social scholarship, on the [Additional information] screen containing the student declarations, you should select the declarations that are consistent with the factual situation:

In this case, do not complete the income declaration for the 2025/2026 academic year (base year: 2024). In the USOSweb system, submit only the application for a social scholarship for the summer semester of the 2025/2026 academic year.
When completing the application for a social scholarship, on the [Additional information] screen containing the student declarations, you should select the declarations that are consistent with the factual situation:
[What if I applied for a social scholarship and my family income has changed since then?]
If your family income or family composition has changed and you have already submitted an application for a social scholarship in the winter semester, you should contact bpm@uw.edu.pl or the coordinator in your unit to request that editing of the income declaration be enabled. This will enable correction of the income declaration and the submission of documents confirming the changes as attachments to the income declaration for the 2025/2026 academic year.
A change in income may have occurred as a result of:
the loss or acquisition, by you or a member of your family, within or outside the territory of Poland, of:
- benefits or scholarships for the unemployed;
- employment or other gainful employment;
- pre-retirement allowance or pre-retirement benefit;
- teacher compensation benefit;
- retirement pension or disability pension;
- family pension, social pension, or supplementary benefit;
- parental supplementary allowance referred to in the Act of 31 January 2019 on the parental supplementary allowance;
- cash benefit granted under the Act of 8 February 2023 on cash benefits payable to family members of officers or professional soldiers whose death occurred in connection with service or, outside service, while undertaking activities to rescue human life or health or to protect property;
- sickness benefit, rehabilitation benefit or maternity allowance to which a person is entitled after losing employment or other gainful employment;
- parental allowance,
- obtaining maternity allowance referred to in the regulations on farmers’ social insurance;
- doctoral scholarship;
and as a result of:
- the commencement or termination of childcare leave;
- the commencement or deregistration of a business activity, as well as the suspension or resumption of such activity, within the meaning of Article 16b of the Act of 20 December 1990 on farmers’ social insurance or Article 36aa, section 1 of the Act of 13 October 1998 on the social insurance system;
- the loss of adjudged child maintenance in connection with the death of a person liable to pay these benefits or loss of cash benefits paid in the event of ineffective enforcement of child maintenance in connection with the death of the person liable to pay child maintenance;

[Deadlines]
In order to retain entitlement to a scholarship for a given month, the application must be submitted no later than the end of that month; however, where the application is submitted in February, the scholarship may be awarded from March onwards. For example, to receive the scholarship for May, the application must be submitted by 31 May (further information).
