I have a place in a student house and what’s next? – academic year 2023/24

The first round of awarding dormitory places (dedicated to current students and doctoral students) has already ended – the result is already visible in the application comment in USOSweb (applies to complete applications submitted a minimum of 14 days before the end of the round and have received the status “ready for processing”).

Places were awarded using an algorithm (How can you get a place in a student house?), which took into account all the points earned by a given student or doctoral student.

Congratulations! Most of you have received the dormitory you chose first or second on your preference list. Once you have received a positive result, you do not need to take any additional actions, it remains only to count down the days until the start of accommodation.

[I didn’t get the dormitory space I wanted…]

We are very sorry. You can use the exchange market, which will be active from 25 July to 17 September 2023. You will find the exchange market in the same place in USOSweb where you can find, among other things, the application for a place in a student house. The way the exchange market works is very simple, for example: if you want to swap a place in DS3 for a place in DS5 in the exchange must participate the person who received a place in DS5 and wants to live in DS3.

Important! The exchange market is fully automatic, the Student Welfare and Support Office does not exchange places.

[I want to give up my allotted space…]

In this case, please inform us immediately about the cancellation to bpm@uw.edu.pl, so we can allocate the unused place to another person.

[Next step – accommodation!]

As of 18 September, accommodation begins. If you want to live in a dormitory earlier, contact the student house in question to make sure it is possible.

For accommodation, report to the student house where you have been given a place, remember to bring 2 photos, an identity document and a cash deposit (in the amount of the 1st month’s fee). Detailed fees for a given place, in a given Student’s House are included in the appendix to the UW Rector’s decision no. 11 of 19 June 2023. Accommodation is possible from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., but if your arrival is at other times, be sure to inform the dormitory administration well in advance.
Accommodation will end on 2 October, i.e. failure to lodge by this date will mean cancellation of the place and its loss. Starting October 3, unused places will be given to those who sign up for the reserve list. The list will be launched at a later date.

We are very sorry that you did not get a place in the dormitory – in this case there is an opportunity to reconsider your application, in the round scheduled for September 15, in order to take part in it you must select, next to the application, the option Forward for reconsideration.
