All you need to know about the social scholarship – summer term 2024/2025

Category: Social scholarship
The beginning of the summer term is a time to remember to submit an application for a social scholarship. This applies to both those who are already receiving the scholarship (as it is granted for only one semester, not the entire academic year!) and those who would like to apply for this form of support for the first time. Here are some key details regarding the application process, which will open on 17 of February 2025, for the summer term of the 2024/2025 academic year.
[If you have not applied for a social scholarship in the winter term 2024/2025]
- STEP 1: Complete the 2024/2025 income statement in USOSweb (base year 2023) (Tab COMMON SECTION – Applications).
- STEP 2: Apply for a social scholarship for the summer term of the academic year 2024/2025. You do not need to wait for the income statement to be verified before applying.
[If you applied for a social scholarship in the winter term but did NOT receive one]
- STEP 1: Only submit an application for a social scholarship for the summer term of the 2024/2025 academic year.
While filling out the social scholarship application, on the [Additional Information] screen, which contains student declarations, you must select declarations that accurately reflect your situation:

[What if I have applied for a social scholarship and the income in my family has changed since then?]
If your income or the composition of your family has changed, and you have already applied for a social grant in the winter semester, you should write to: bpm@uw.edu.pl or to the coordinator in your unit with a request to allow editing of the income statement. This will allow you to improve your income statement and add documents confirming the changes as attachments to the income benefit for academic year 2024/2025 .
A change in income may have occurred as a result:
loss or acquisition of income by you or a member of your family in Poland or abroad:

- loss of unemployment benefit or scholarship;
- loss of employment or other gainful work;

- loss of adjudged child support/maintenance in connection with the death of a person liable for paying these benefits or loss of cash benefits paid in the event of ineffective enforcement of child support/maintenance in connection with the death of the person liable to pay child support/maintenance.
[Change in income threshold requiring the submission of a certificate of social assistance benefits]
As of 1 January 2025, the amount specified in Article 8, paragraph 1, point 2 of the Act of March 12, 2004, on social assistance has changed. The current amount is 823 PLN. This means that all applicants whose income per person in the family does not exceed 823 PLN should attach a certificate issued by the social welfare center or the social services center confirming that they or their family members are receiving social assistance benefits in 2025.
