Everything you need to know about the social scholarship – academic year 2022/2023

Category: Social scholarship

Start, the most important basic information.

The most important thing is submitting the application. The sooner you apply, the better off you will be. If you submit your application by the 18th day of the month, you will be able to apply for the scholarship for that month as well. Example:

  • student X submitted the application on October 1 – he has the right to apply for a scholarship also for this month,
  • student Y applied on October 19 – this person is not eligible for the October scholarship.

ATTENTION! In December 2022, in February, March and June 2023, the deadline for submitting the application is the 20th day of the month. Example:

student X submitted the application on February 1 – he has the right to apply for a scholarship also for this month,
student Y applied on February 21 – this person is not eligible for the February scholarship.

To apply for a social scholarship, you must submit: an application for a social scholarship and a declaration of income for 2021. The most important is the date of submitting the application, but without submitting the declaration, you cannot complete it!

Remember to use e-mail in the UW domain when contacting our office (and not only).

Applications and statements are submitted via the USOSweb. This means that the entire procedure is done online.

How do I check if I am eligible for a social grant?

In the case of Poles, the most common reason for refusing to grant a social scholarship is exceeding the limit of semesters during which a given person studies:

  • in the case of first-cycle studies, it is not allowed to study longer than 9 semesters;
  • in the case of second-cycle studies, it is not allowed to study longer than 7 semesters;
  • in total, it is not allowed to study longer than 12 semesters.

Each semester started by the student counts towards this number.

In addition, you cannot get benefits:

  • in first-cycle studies, if the student already has a bachelor’s degree or higher;
  • in second-cycle studies, if the student already has a master’s degree.

The complete list of documents is included in the Regulations (Annexes 1 and 2). However, do not worry if you forget about a document, because the coordinators always ask you to fill in the gaps. Of course, any lack of documents and the need to supplement may delay the issuance of a decision.

When is parental income not required?

In some cases, he does not have to provide the income of other people from his family (you can settle your taxes yourself). This option is possible if:

  • you are 26 years old,

or

  • you are married,

or

  • you have dependent children,

or

  • you have reached the age of majority being in foster care,

or

  • you have a permanent source of income, and your average monthly income in the previous tax year and in the current year in the months preceding the month of submitting the income declaration is higher than or equal to PLN 930.35.

Why do we need these documents?

Probably some of you ask yourself this question when completing the application for a social scholarship. The documents are used to confirm the reported income. When thinking about what documents are needed, think about the income you received in 2021 and 2022.

Application statuses, what do they mean?

  • being filled in – the application is being completed, you can freely make changes to the document. Attention! Applications and statements of this status will not be verified.
  • delivered – at this stage you can no longer make changes to the application / declaration. From that moment on, the documents are verified. To avoid problems with submitting the application / declaration, make sure that your e-mail address in the UW domain appears in USOSweb. Do not put off submitting the application until the last moment!
  •  – during the verification of the application, the coordinator found errors or missing documents. Most often, detailed information on how to improve the application can be found in the comment visible in the USOSweb or in your e-mail box.
  • ready for consideration – verification of documents has been completed. This means that a decision will be made available soon. For most scholarships, this decision is made available via the USOSweb (you will find it in the list of administrative letters).
  • considered – the decision has been made available in the USOSweb or sent by post (regarding allowances).
